You're not alone in your anxiety, LiF sister. I myself have been through many restless seasons, filled with sleepless nights and the same stressful thoughts playing on repeat throughout the day. Whatever it is that's creating anxiety, whether it's some sort of incident or even if there's really no real reason for it at all, know that Jesus is here and He is for you. 

Here are some calming prayers to soothe your chaotic thoughts and remind you of God's love and care for you.

He Leads Me Beside Still Waters

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." ~ Psalm 23:1-4

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know you are with me, I know you love me. Please remind me of how close you are, God. Remind me that you're always with me and know exactly what I'm facing. 

Just like the Psalmist says above, please lead me by still waters. Be that source of comfort for my burdened soul, dear Lord. Though I'm facing a steep hill to climb, I put my trust in you. I know you'll be with me every step of the way, every day. 

Be my one true comfort, Jesus. In your name I pray, Amen.

 The Peace of God

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Dear Jesus,

This time of year welcomes a sense of reflection. It could be the crisp autumn air or the turning leaves, but we're reminded of the stunning beauty that comes from change. 

Things have been changing for me too, God. I'm faced with new obstacles and I have to admit that I've been anxious about it. Please remind me of how capable and trustworthy you are, and how you work everything out for your good, even when I can't see it for myself. 

Reveal yourself to me through creation, dear Lord. Show me your face in the fall sunset and early morning prayer walks. I pray that I may come to know you even better through these trials, and that I may come to get a sense of your peace.

Thank you for everything, Lord. In your name, Amen.

All You Who Are Weary...

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." ~ Matthew 11:28-30

Dear God,

I must admit that I'm feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. Everything is so heavy and difficult to bear. I can't help but remember your words from Matthew 11. We weren't meant to carry such a heavy load, such imposing burdens. We are only human, after all.

You've generously offered to shoulder these burdens for us, and I ask you to help me now. I admit I am not self-sufficient. In fact, I'm very much in need of a Savior. I lay down any sort of accomplishment or pride and acknowledge that I need you—completely. There is nothing I can do apart from you, Jesus.

May I find rest for my soul through this powerful realization. In your name, Amen.
