Uplifting Prayers for the Single Woman Wanting to Be In a Relationship

Sometimes we find ourselves in seasons of doubt and loneliness. We know we should be trusting in God, standing on His promises, and letting that trust fill us with hope, but it's hard. It's hard to let the reality of Christ's truth and promises sink in amidst loneliness, and that's okay. We are human, after all. The key here is to be open and honest with God, inviting Him into your thought life and sharing what's on your heart. God wants to be involved in your life, and we can come to Him with our true thoughts and feelings.

No matter your relationship status or season of life you're in, God has an incredible plan for you—beyond your wildest dreams! You are so valued and loved. If you're wanting to be in a relationship, and are waiting on the Lord, we want to create a space for you to feel encouraged today.

We've got 4 prayers along with key verses designed to give you hope and encouragement as you navigate this season of singleness.

A Prayer for Hope & Optimism

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

Dear Lord, I want to take a moment to acknowledge that you are with me, and for that, I am thankful. You have blessed me with your presence and I'm so grateful I can come to you in this way. You know how I've been desiring to meet someone, and not just anyone, but someone who could be my spouse and partner in life. This desire was given to me by youit's a good and beautiful thing. I know you want what's best for me, but I have to admit that I'm getting tired of waiting. This feeling of loneliness is a difficult burden to bear. Please give me hope and strength in this season of waiting, in this season of relying on you. Be with me every moment and remind me of your love and guiding hand. In your name, I pray, Amen.

A Prayer to Guard Your Heart

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." - Philippians 4:6

Dear Lord, you know how dark the world can be. Around every corner there seems to be lies telling me that I'm not good enough, not worthy enough, and will remain alone forever. Amidst these lies, I pray you would protect my heart. Protect my heart from dark thoughts, from jealousy, from feelings of despair. Through Scripture and community, I pray I may remain close to you and your heart. Teach me how to deal with this season in a graceful, meaningful manner. Surround me with fellow believers who can pour into me, and I into them, so that we may encourage one another. Amen.

A Prayer for Joy in the Waiting

"Grant me the joy that comes from knowing you and being known by you. Fill my heart with gospel joy. Strengthen me by your word. May the words of the Psalmist be true of me, "I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope" -Psalm 130:5

Dear Lord, may this season be filled with indescribable joy. May I be filled with confidence in who you made me to be. May I get closer and closer to you, and may this season be even sweeter than I anticipated. Lord, you assure us that you are with us always and we are to rejoice in our trials. While this is often hard to do, I pray that somehow I may be able to rejoice in you and your love for me. Each morning, I pray you would equip me with patience and a positive spirit. Give me the discipline to study your Word and seek out counsel. I know you have wonderful plans for me, and this is just one chapter of my story, but please, may it be a great one. Amen.

A Prayer for Your Future Spouse

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4

Dear Lord, I do not know what the future holds for me, but you do. If it is your will that I would find a spouse, I pray you would be with them. I pray for strength and resilience on this journey, and that they would come to know you and love you as I do. Reveal yourself to them today, God, and remind them of the glorious purpose you have called them to. Give them a heart for others and a passion to do kingdom work on this earth. I pray that they would live their life in such a way that they would directly reflect the love of Christ. Prepare both of our hearts for what's to come, Jesus. I trust in you. Amen.
